Can turf be installed right now?
Turf can be installed from spring until late autumn, as long as the ground is not frozen. Spring, summer and autumn are all suitable seasons for installation. The season mainly affects the need for watering and how quickly the turf takes root.
How long does turf installation take?
Turf is a quick way to create a finished lawn surface. On a prepared base, one person can install approximately 50 m² of turf per hour on average. In practice, the lawn area of a typical detached house yard is often completed within the same day. The total time depends on the size of the site, the distance the turf needs to be moved to the installation area, and the amount of shaping and cutting required.
How quickly can turf be delivered?
The delivery time for turf is usually about one week from placing the order. Deliveries can often be arranged on a faster schedule, but the final delivery date is always agreed together with the customer or recipient. Finnurmi does not deliver turf to a site without an agreed delivery time in advance.
Online store orders are processed on weekdays in the order they are received, after which the customer is contacted to arrange the delivery. The delivery date is affected by factors such as the order date, seasonal demand, delivery address and when the delivery can be confirmed with the customer.
Deliveries to urban areas are generally made from Tuesday to Friday. In some locations, delivery may be available only once a week, so it is advisable to book delivery well in advance, especially during the busiest weeks in spring and early summer.
What kind of groundwork does turf require?
Careful groundwork is the most important foundation for a successful lawn. Turf thrives in a growing medium that retains a suitable amount of moisture, allows water and air to pass through, and maintains its structure without becoming too compacted. In practice, this means fertilized and limed lawn soil or a similar growing medium.
The amount of growing medium required depends on the starting condition of the site. A yard built on bedrock usually requires significantly more growing medium than, for example, installation on good-quality fine sand or sandy soil. For this reason, the required amount of soil cannot be determined based on the surface area alone; the quality of the subsoil also has a decisive impact on the final result.
How quickly is turf ready for use?
Turf is ready for use immediately and provides a finished green lawn from the day it is installed. Normal use is possible right away, but before the turf has rooted, it is best to avoid repeated walking along the same route and heavy mechanical stress, such as sudden turns, tearing movements or other wear that could move the turf rolls.
